Water:
 |
The City is
connected to the Marshall Polk Rural Water Association. A 6-inch line
supplies water to a storage reservoir within the city limits. This water
is pumped into our water tower, which then supplies our residents with a
550,000-gallon capacity of water. The City currently uses approximately
35,800 gallons of water per day during the 5 summer months and 20,300
gallons of water per day during the 7 off-season months. |
Wastewater
Treatment:
 |
The wastewater
treatment needs of the City of Oslo are currently served by a system of
sewage lagoons initially constructed in 1968. The original 1968 sewage
lagoon configuration consisted of a single primary treatment pond of 5.2
acres and a single secondary treatment pond of 2.61 acres. In
anticipation of increased industrial activity (new potato processing
facility) and a subsequent need to increase their wastewater treatment
capacity, the City of Oslo expanded their sewage lagoon system. The 1977
improvements resulted in a lagoon system two primary treatment ponds
(20.4 acres and 15.3 acres) and two secondary treatment ponds (5.2 acres
and 6.8 acres. |
Storm Sewer:
 |
Oslo has a
citywide storm sewer system that drains to the Red River of the North. A
Booster station with three 16-inch submersible pumps discharge water
during the periods when the Red River has high water levels and our gate
wells must remain closed. Because of federal NPDES regulations, it would
be necessary to evaluate alternatives for any additional capacity. |
Sanitation:
 |
The City has a
contract with Northern Sanitation out of
Stephen for the collection of all commercial and residential
garbage. Industrial wastes would have to be evaluated for proper
disposal. Citizens may contact the City to arrange for the disposal of
white goods and steel. |
Power:
 |
Ottertail Power
Co provides electrical service for Oslo. Both single and three-phase
electric are available. There is a power substation located by the Oslo
water tower. The rural area around Oslo has service provided by PKM
Electric Cooperative for the Minnesota residents and Nodak Electric for
the North Dakota residents. |
 |
Propane is
available from Farmers Union Oil of Oslo and Argyle. Fuel Oil is
available from TL Oil, Oslo, and Farmers Union Oil of Oslo and Argyle. |

 |
Frontier provides landline telephone service. Internet access is
available through Wikstrom Internet Service and Rural Access. Cellular
telephone access is available through Cellular One, Cellular 2000, and
Verizon Wireless. Midcontinent Cable provides cable television service.
|

which is published daily, services the community of Oslo. |

is the local television station, out of Grand Forks, ND. |
